In a surprise move by Sony, a PlayStation 5 Remote Play App popped up on the PS4 this morning. Not everyone can access it, though. Reportedly, the app’s download will only go through for those. PS Remote Play is a free to use feature on all PS4 and PS5 consoles. All you need is: Your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition, PS4 or PS4 Pro 2 connected to your home wired broadband network. PS4 Remote Play is a free application which effectively allows you to play and stream your PlayStation 4 games remotely on an iPhone, Android phone, tablet or iPad and in the case of PS Remote Play for PC, on a Windows computer.
With this application, you can link controllers to your device and play the games that are you have installed on your PlayStation 4 console. You have the option of using a touchscreen, keyboard or a connected joystick or controller, too.
Configuring the PS4 for Remote Play
Getting the application up, running and linked to your console is not a complicated task. You should first access the settings on the console and follow the directions once you have navigated to 'Remote Play Connection Settings'. From there, adding a device should be as easy as using a connection code that the console has provided.
Other settings about the quality of games being played can be managed; standard options include the resolution and the frame rate. These can be changed depending on your connection speed. It supports 360p, 540p, 720p or 1080p.
All in all, the remote play capabilities of Sony PS consoles has improved a lot from the initial attempts with PS3. This application supports both PS4 and PS5 consoles.
